Colo(u)r Run!!!

So my flatmate and I participated in the ‘Color Run’ over the weekend. If you’re not familiar with the concept; what it is, is a short fun run (5km) in a (usually) beautiful setting with the added bonus of colour stations where people throw colour at you. It was a pretty colourful and amazing day!  The weather was perfect for it.

Once we crossed the finish line each participant was handed a satchel of colour as well. We then pretty much had an open air dance party which at certain intervals the crowd was told to release its colour in the air. The effect, well I’ll let you judge for yourself. I have to credit my flatmate for the spontaneous photos taken during the day.

If a color run comes to your city I would definitely recommend participating in it! You don’t have to be a serious runner to enjoy it. My flatmate is a smoker and he still managed to enjoy himself on the day.  What I found really cool was that the coloured powder we were given was made in India, the land of the colour festivals to out do all colour festivals – Holi. This wasn’t religious or spiritual in anyway though it was still fun and it was nice to have a sense of community with 17,000 other people just letting loose, enjoy the sun, and the colour.
